Good point.  I'm not sure.  I did do a "make install" from the mysql
src directory and it installed the binaries and man pages.  I wonder
why it didn't install the header files.  I just re-ran make install
on mysql, then went through all the normal steps of building php and
apache and it went flawlessly this time without the need to specify
the path to the mysql header files.  Neat.

Oh well, sorry about the false alarm.
