I've not lost any data on customer sites in 20 years so I don't plan to move away from Firebird any time soon. Fixing the Firebird PDO driver is all I am interested in, but the poor generic documentation does make it difficult to know where to start, and each driver still seems to be doing it's own thing, so that making PDO perform cross database is equally problematic. -- Lester Caine - G8HFL ----------------------------- Contact - http://lsces.co.uk/wiki/?page=contact L.S.Caine Electronic Services - http://lsces.co.uk EnquirySolve - http://enquirysolve.com/ Model Engineers Digital Workshop - http://medw.co.uk// Firebird - http://www.firebirdsql.org/index.phpLester Caine wrote:Maybe because I mispelled it. I'm not seeing anything about it on php.netanyways .. i think making it possible to choose between a string and a stream seems to be a sensible feature to add.It is currently possible, although it's a "global" switch, see PDO_STRINGIFY_FETCHES.This only says convert numeric values - not blobs?I agree that documentation of the various attributes and fetch modes can be improved. If you are serious about improving PDO, I'd suggest you to take a look at the test suites, both common and driver specific: there might be much to learn by looking at them (talking about the main drivers, not the broken firebird one).
