Hi Gabe, I've asked before about extensions linking to APSL licensed code and got an OK from Wez. As you know the opendirectory extension links to APSL licensed code, which is in PECL. But even so you still might want a more official OK by someone from group@. Anyone? -Justin sumoraigabe-pecl@yahoo.com wrote:
I've sent this to group@php.net as Wez had suggested to me, but I've received no response after a few weeks. I'd like to get this out the door. Does anyone see any problems with including APSL code from Apple in the extension? - Gabriel --- Gabriel Ricard <gabe@php.net> wrote:

To: group@php.net Hi folks, I ran into a problem with building John's version of the zeroconf extension under Mac OS X. His version uses Apple's Rendezvous SDK rather than mine which used the Howl library. Eventually these will be merged together, but the next release of zeroconf will use the Rendezvous SDK. In order for this to build properly in Mac OS X, I have to bundle some code from Apple's mDNSResponder (Rendezvous from Darwin). This was done on advice from Stuart Cheshire, the man who created Zeroconf/Rendezvous, who is employed by Apple (and wrote the code in question). The code I am including is a handful of functions that are in the Rendezvous SDK, but NOT included in Mac OS X prior to 10.4, which has not yet been released. For this extension to build in versions of Mac OS X prior to 10.4, it requires this code. I looked over the APSL and did not see any glaring problems with this. On Wez's suggestion, I have emailed you folks for an official decision. The code in question is in PECL CVS: /pecl/zeroconf/dnssd_clientlib_compat.c. The APSL can be found at http://www.opensource.apple.com/apsl/ Thank you for your time and consideration, Gabriel Ricard
