Hi,
XML-RPC is the method used by the old PEAR installer to query
pecl.php.net or pear.php.net. Since PEAR 1.4.0, a new and more
efficient method has been introduced, REST.
Old PEAR versions have known security issues, all major distributions
have already upgraded PEAR to 1.4.x. It will also reduce the amount of
code I have to test during the move and, even more important, the
amount of codes we will have to maintain after the move.
I can say that nobody should be affected by this change, more than
99.8% of the requests are done using PEAR 1.4.x or earlier.
WIth the move of pecl.php.net to its new home, I would like to
completely drop XML-RPC support in pecl.php.net.
Please tell me if you agree or disagree with this change. Once we
agreed, I will post the migration plan with a couple of dead lines
(the move should happen within two weeks).
Thanks for your attention,
