Just download the tarball and try using the recommended versions of the required tools.
Where is the list of recommended versions? With that we could give a better error message. This problem has been reported so many times arround bugs.php.net, lists, irc, etc. and at least until phpize goes more intelligent, we could recommend some solutions in "pear install peclfoo". Tomas V.V.Cox
