Dear PECL fans, we would like to release a plugin for the mysqlnd library [1] on PECL: PECL/mysqlnd_mux - PHP mysqlnd connection multiplexing plugin This plugin adds connection multiplexing to mysqlnd. Multiplexing refers to sharing one MySQL connections among multiple user connection handles. Multiplexing aims to reduce connection establishment latency and the total number of connections opened. At its current stage, the plugin is an educative example of the PHP mysqlnd library C plugin API. It has limitations. Concurrent accesses to multiplexed connections are not fully synchronized/serialized. You can use it together with the PHP mysqli, PDO_MySQL and mysql extensions if compiled to use mysqlnd. The API calls mysql_query(), mysqli_query() are supported. The PDO_MySQL calls PDO::query(), PDO::exec(), PDO::prepare() are covered, if PDO::ATTR_EMULATE_PREPARES is set. Although this should cover many use cases it does not cover all. Quick facts: License: PHP License, as for ext/mysqlnd and PECL/mysqlnd_* Source: ~1.000 lines of C Tests: ~1.600 lines of PHP (~90% code coverage) Documentation: some 6 pages, php.net docbook format Please, let us know whether we are allowed to contribute this development to PECL. Have a nice weekend! Ulf [1] http://www.php.net/manual/en/book.mysqlnd.php
