The last element of the return array should only contain 2 chars. This behavior is only noticed on PHP6 with UNICODE ON Reproduce code: --------------- <?php $str = 'Testing str_split()'; $split_length = 5; var_dump( str_split($str, $split_length) ); ?> Expected result: ---------------- array(4) { [0]=> unicode(5) "Testi" [1]=> unicode(5) "ng st" [2]=> unicode(5) "r_spl" [3]=> unicode(4) "it()" } Actual result: -------------- array(4) { [0]=> unicode(5) "Testi" [1]=> unicode(5) "ng st" [2]=> unicode(5) "r_spl" [3]=> unicode(8) "it()^@E^@1" } ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- Edit this bug report at http://bugs.php.net/?id=42866&edit=1
