your browser is most probably making up markup.
try it with wget, lynx, links, cURL or similar agent, and reopen if you
still see this.

try the following code.
<?
print "<=";
?>
it prints "<=>"
I dont understand why..... esp as the > seems to be outside the actual
string.
This has been tried on a linuz with 4.12 and a win32 box running 4.2.1
as an apache module.
