For some strange reason the problem is reoccurring again with version
5.2.9-dev!

I installed the latest version like you recommended (PHP version:
5.2.9-dev (win32 x86 VC6)). That fixed it.

Typecasting or converting some numeric strings variables to a float
value does not work as expected.

Reproduce code:
