Ist it possible that you have register_globals off?

I have the same problem on FreeBsd 4.6, Apache 1.3.26 and the latest
build of PHP (1st of july 2002)

Box: 280-R (sun4u) 2x4
Working Config (port 89):
Solaris 8,
Apache 1.3.23, ModSSL 2.8.7,
OpenSSL 0.9.6c, PHP 4.2.1
NonWorking Config (port 890):
Solaris 8, Apache 1.3.26, ModSSL 2.8.10,
OpenSSL 0.9.6d, PHP 4.2.1

Actually this is a bug on non-intel platforms. atleast, maybe. I saw
such thing reproduced on Linux/sparc @ LT. (Hakan knows more and is
going to file a report).
