Make a simple script which calls imagettfbox (but one which doesn't output the image data) and then run it: strace php-cgi -f yourscruipt.php optionally, redirect the output to a file. search for the font name and you will see where gd tries to access it. I've correctly set the GDFONTPATH enviromental variable but the problem persist. I've tested this way using WXP Pro, PHP4.2.1., GD 1.8.x and GD 2.
