ID: 10182 Updated by: hholzgra@php.net Reported By: apere@agilitime.com Status: Open Bug Type: Mail related Operating System: Any Windows PHP Version: CVS New Comment: for now it will stay windows only at least as long as we are not perfectily sure that the new code realy works there is no use in replacing a working solution with stuff still marked as experimental (although mfisher did a lot of good work on it lately that improved the situation on windows quite a bit :) Previous Comments: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2002-07-12 05:37:52] david@acz.org Why does it have to be Windows only? I would *really* like to see integrated SMTP support in PHP on UNIX platforms. Keeping it Windows only seems silly. Yes, I know it's easy to code SMTP stuff in PHP, but as long as the code is there... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2002-06-02 11:15:39] mfischer@php.net Updated summary, Version, Status, OS ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2001-06-22 18:47:06] hholzgra@php.net windows mail code *badly* needs a rewirte ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2001-04-05 09:46:21] apere@agilitime.com Ok, I have found several notes telling that the following syntax works : $to = "\"Arnaud PERE\" <apere@agilitime.com>"; mail ($to,"subject","message"); But when I try this, my SMTP server says : (bad host/domain syntax: "agilitime.com>") see the trailing ">"... Instead, I tried the following syntax which appeared to work : $to = "apere@agilitime.com (Arnaud PERE)"; mail ($to,"subject","message"); This problem does not appear on the Unix version of PHP4.04pl1, but only on the windows version. Did I do something wrong ? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- Edit this bug report at http://bugs.php.net/?id=10182&edit=1
