your libc may not have it then. You can use 5.3 if you like to have
full crypt support no matter which operating system you use.

recently upgraded php from 4.4 to 5.2.6
configure command
'./configure' '--with-apxs2=/usr/sbin/apxs' '--enable-track-vars'
'--enable-shmop' '--enable-sysvsem' '--enable-sysvshm'
'--with-oci8=/usr/local/oracle92' '--with-mysql' '--with-zlib=/usr'
'--with-zlib-dir=/usr/local/lib/' '--with-gd'
'--with-png-dir=/usr/local/lib' '--with-freetype-dir=/usr/local/lib/'
'--with-jpeg-dir=/usr/lib/' '--with-curl'
When i ran the following script

$password = 'OctaviaAnghel';
$crypt = crypt($password);
echo $crypt;
?>
the following error is displayed.
Fatal error: Call to undefined function crypt() in
/home/httpd/htdocs/test.php on line 3
