Mike,

Using the 'noserverino' workaround does mitigate the problem, but it
does not address the underlying issue.

Works fine here too, so I assume it's not a PHP bug.

Adding cifs option "noserverino" solves the problem.

For me, it doesn't even work with PHP 5.3.2
