Operating system: RedHat 7.3 (kernel 2.4.18-3smp)
PHP version: 4.2.2
PHP Bug Type: Reproducible crash
Bug description: random segmentation faults with magic_quotes_sybase set
We recently upgraded our web server to PHP 2.2.2 and the latest version of
the Zend Optimizer, however, we've noticed that when we've got the
magic_quotes_sybase option set to on in the php.ini file, we get RANDOM
segmentation faults from apache. The same page without changes may or may
not complete for no apparent reason. We suspect the problem may be related
to issues with stripslashes, but because of the randomness of the
failures, have been unable to isolate the problem and suspect instead that
there is an error in the stripslashes function itself that is causing the
issue.
Unfortunately we've got some fairly extensive applications and would like
to avoid having to revamp all our code to accomidate for having to turn
this option off.
As a side note, we're using the latest version of FreeTDS to access our
mssql database (mssql 2k) and this issue did not appear until we upgraded
from php 4.1.1.
Any assistance is resolve this issue would be aprpeciated. We're under a
time crunch.
