Bug Type: Reproducible crash
Operating System: red hat 7.1
PHP Version: 4.2.2
New Comment:
Can you please give a sample script? I'm running the CGI version here,
and get no crash with a test script on 2 different machines.
Also your configure line would help a bit.

I get an segmentation fault (core dumped) when I execute php without
apache, like this:
php < my_php_file.php >> output.txt
This has worked in version 4.0.6.
In 4.2.2 I get a fault.
