if use '@', you can call function in a string substitution context.

Test script:
---------------
<?php
$la = "ooxx";

$a = "${@substr('laruence', 0, 2)}"; 

echo $a;

Expected result:
----------------
PHP Error: syntax error 

Actual result:
--------------
ooxx
