bug report already describes this very problem. Even if you feel
that your issue is somewhat different, the resolution is likely
to be the same.

The code provided runs on 5.3.6 perfectly and returns the google.co.uk and
reddit.com source code.
The curl version provided is 7.24 - that a version from January 2012. There is
already 7.28 available. It has not been tested with another version then the one
that is provided by PHP.
