This is supported in PHP 5.6 as $gmpNum << $shift.

A number of GMP functions are not yet exposed through PHP, for example mpz_mul_2exp;
"Set rop to op1 times 2 raised to op2. This operation can also be defined as a left shift by
op2 bits."
