This has been applied in 5.5 with the following commit:
https://github.com/php/php-src/commit/640214701c9cf259c899d283ea769b3045d2553c
The xp_ssl.c file changed significantly in 5.6 and the appropriate modifications have been merged as
needed.
Finally, as there was no name listed with this report (only an email address) I was unable to add
your name to the relevant NEWS file entries. If this bothers you please let me know via my php.net
address and I'll be happy to add it after the fact.
