This was proposed in an RFC as such feature requests should nowadays, have a look at: https://wiki.php.net/rfc/enum and feel free to contact the
author and possibly renew the request to the PHP Internals Mailing list.

The enumeration specifier associates the manifest constants like define() with numbers 0, 1, 2, etc.
respectively....
