PHP-LDAP should allow to use extended operations.
This would allow a clean password change even when ppolicy overlay is
used for instance.
Some patches for including this in PHPÂ exists:

After some research it seems Pierangelo Masarati had made a patch for
adding EXOP to PHP-LDAPÂ ten years ago.
In the link there is an updated version of this patch.
Any chance of something like this getting merged upstream?
