See http://www.php.net/release_4_2_0.php for more info. We are sorry about the inconvenience, but this change was a necessary part of our efforts to make PHP scripting more secure and portable. Your problem does not imply a bug in PHP itself. For a list of more appropriate places to ask for help using PHP, please visit http://www.php.net/support.php Thank you for your interest in PHP. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2002-09-12 08:54:42] Agostino.Calamita@italtel.it Hi, I installed PHP 4.2.3 on a Windows NT workstation with Xitami Web Server 2.4d9. I have a simple html page with a form like this: <FORM NAME="myname" METHOD="POST" ACTION="test.php"> <INPUT TYPE=TEXT NAME="myfield" SIZE=20> <INPUT TYPE=submit> </FORM> and a simple php file (test.php) like this: <HTML> <BODY> <?php echo "Your field is: "; echo $myfield; ?> </BODY> </HTML> When I use the submit the form, PHP executes test.php and give my this page: Your field is: Notice: Undefined variable: myfield in C:\Xitami\webpages\test.php on line 5 If I unistall PHP 4.2.3 and install PHP 4.1.1, everything works fine and I got what I wrote inside myfield. I don't know if this is a bug or a security problem. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- Edit this bug report at http://bugs.php.net/?id=19375&edit=1
