Edit report at https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=70114&edit=1 ID: 70114 Updated by: cmb@php.net Reported by: cph at osde dot uk Summary: mb_convert_encoding UTF-16 and UTF-16LE BOM behaviour Status: Open Type: Bug Package: mbstring related Operating System: ubuntu PHP Version: 5.6.11 Block user comment: N Private report: N New Comment: I do not consider this behavior to be a bug. When a BOM is passed, conversion from UTF-16 strips the BOM, while conversion from UTF-16LE doesn't (both make sense). Either way you get a valid UTF-8 string.
