Um, the RFC has been accepted for PHP 5.4.11, but it is still
listed in the "Pending implementation" section:

What's the status?

Since there are no objections, I went ahead and assigned this to myself. I also updated the version
to reflect that this issue is still present in the 5.x branches.

I just stumbled upon this really old (and still open) bug from PHP 4 while Googling this very issue
on 5.2.17.
Has this ever been addressed? If not, was there any pressing reason why or is it just not a
priority? If the latter, I could probably take ownership of this if nobody has any objections.
