-Status: Open
+Status: Feedback
Type: Feature/Change Request
Package: Filter related
PHP Version: Irrelevant

New Comment:
A fully-compliant regex is ridiculous. http://pastebin.com/2ZLehM5N
Even worse, the source I used to generate that does not include support for IDNs.
Besides, a perfect regex is still not perfect. http://www.regular-expressions.info/email.html
What email address failed validation that you considered valid? And what regex have you constructed?

Description:
------------
FILTER_VALIDATE_EMAIL should respect the latest standard, currently this feature cannot be used and
we have to build our own regexp.
Update it or remove it.
