I think perhaps giving up on c99 and the -D_XOPEN_SOURCE=600 may be a good
idea here and trying cc with -Xc strict mode next.

So I will most likely need to specify --host and that is fine.
What I do need is a trivial configure set of options where
--disable-all is most likely the first option. :-\
