Well, there are two different issues regarding infinite recursion: one is about normal PHP
functions/methods (as in this case), and that results in OOM conditions. The other is about
[indirect/magic calls](https://bugs.php.net/64196), which results in a stack overflow. If you look
at a stack backtrace for such cases, you see the recursion with repeated
zend_execute_ex() calls. I assume that is happening when running as Symfony project
(error handler?)
Anyway, we will not fix the first kind of infinite recursion, what [is already
documented](https://www.php.net/manual/en/functions.user-defined.php), for performance reasons. You
can use Xdebug to detect deep recursion. And the second kind of infinite recursion is already
[tracked in on bugsnet](https://bugs.php.net/64196), so I'm closing this as WONTFIX.
Oh, @damianwadley was faster. :)
