This is not particularly related to match statements;

[$a, $b] = true ? ['three', 'whatever'] : [];
var_dump($a, $b);
````
exhibits the same behavior. The regression has been introduced with
1f19401ffa0edb2b69f5f1bd229776ee34cf693e.
