Apparently, there are several variations of Shift JIS in use, of which some are already supported by
MBString. In this case @youkidearitai is likely looking for Windows CP 932
(
"CP932"), which behaves as expected wrt. ~ and \,
see https://3v4l.org/ZjiBS.
I think this is just something that we should document better.
