SIGPIPE is supposed to be ignored, see https://github.com/php/php-src/blob/414f7fc2bb48673085828632d051d90fcbdef4f6/sapi/cli/php_cli.c#L1218
Are you doing something to unignore it, via pcntl_signal or so?
