Yes, using PHP_INT_MAX is how I've worked around it for now.

I've updated the docs accordingly[1].

Anyhow, wouldn't passing PHP_INT_MAX as $length solve that problem
for all practical purposes?

Please mention this 8192 default length in document, and also i hope there could be a -1 value for
unlimited length.
