From: ernest@vogelsinger.at Operating system: RH Linux 7.2 (Linux 2.4.18-17.7) PHP version: 4.2.2 PHP Bug Type: Directory function related Bug description: dirname - empty for root directory The documentation to dirname() states: ------------------ Note: In PHP 4.0.3, dirname() was fixed to be POSIX-compliant. Essentially, this means that if there are no slashes in path , a dot ('.') is returned, indicating the current directory. Otherwise, the returned string is path with any trailing /component removed. Note that this means that you will often get a slash or a dot back from dirname() in situations where the older functionality would have given you the empty string. ------------------ This is not true for 4.2.2, for the root directory it (still or again?) returns the empty string. -- Edit bug report at http://bugs.php.net/?id=20329&edit=1 -- Try a CVS snapshot: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=20329&r=trysnapshot Fixed in CVS: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=20329&r=fixedcvs Fixed in release: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=20329&r=alreadyfixed Need backtrace: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=20329&r=needtrace Try newer version: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=20329&r=oldversion Not developer issue: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=20329&r=support Expected behavior: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=20329&r=notwrong Not enough info: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=20329&r=notenoughinfo Submitted twice: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=20329&r=submittedtwice register_globals: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=20329&r=globals PHP 3 support discontinued: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=20329&r=php3 Daylight Savings: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=20329&r=dst IIS Stability: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=20329&r=isapi
