Thank you for your bug report. This issue has already been fixed
in the latest released version of PHP, which you can download at
http://www.php.net/downloads.php
I don't know when this was changed, but in all current supported versions it's possible to
extend the class. I'm closing this to clean up old bug reports.

Why was the constructor made final in the first place? If there's a good reason for this,
I'd like to find out.
Otherwise, it would be useful if the SimpleXmlElement class could be properly extended.
