ok I'll try to find what else could be wrong

The mail() function itself does not know if the provided adress is a
forwarder or not; so this can't be a bug in PHP -> bogus.

I thing that sending email to a forwarding account using mail function
doesn't work.
eg. leonidas@netsurfer.gr is forwarded to leo@freemail.gr
mail("leonidas@netsurfer.gr", "404", "Line 1\nLine 2\nLine 3");
doen't work but
mail("leo@freemail.gr", "404", "Line 1\nLine 2\nLine 3");
works
