This feature has now been added, look for it in PHP 5.0 (or the next
snapshot [ http://snaps.php.net ] of PHP 5.0 if you're eager
to try it
out)

The unlink() function does not appear to support  
ftp://-style URLs, although fopen(), etc. work fine with  
those URLs.  
  
This reads (according to the allow_url_fopen) as presently  
behavior-by-design, but it'd be nice to see it supported.
