Hi,

<?
print system('%COMSPEC% /c ver');
?>

should work on Windows systems anywhere.

Please could you try that and confirm if it's still giving the same
error message?

PHP Folks: if it does, we could have the return of an ancient
popen/exec issue .. but it's working fine on win9x..

?

php -v :
PHP 4.3.2 (cgi-fcgi), Copyright (c) 1997-2003 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v1.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2003 Zend Technologies

phpinfo():
PHP Version 4.3.2
Server API : CGI/FastCGI
GATEWAY_INTERFACE : CGI/1.1

etc.

And what does 'php -v' output?
And what does phpinfo() has to say about the php version
under IIS?

Web-server: IIS 5
Both CGI and ISAPI installations produced following bug:

Code:
<?
print system('cmd ver');
?>

Result:
system(): Unable to fork
