From: cliff at a-cro dot net Operating system: Linux PHP version: 4.3.4 PHP Bug Type: Feature/Change Request Bug description: short_open_tag behavior change request Description: ------------ There should be another setting in php.ini so that short_open_tag differentiates between <? print('Hi!') ?> and <?= 'Hi!' ?> It should be useful to disable the <? tag as otherwise PHP will attempt to parse <?xml-stylesheet href="http://www.w3.org/StyleSheets/TR/W3C-REC.css" type="text/css"?> which is undesired behaviour. One way to counter the above mentioned problem would be to echo '<?xml-stylesheet href="http://www.w3.org/StyleSheets/TR/W3C-REC.css" type="text/css"?>' but having the ability to disable <? would be nice. -- Edit bug report at http://bugs.php.net/?id=26392&edit=1 -- Try a CVS snapshot (php4): http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=26392&r=trysnapshot4 Try a CVS snapshot (php5): http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=26392&r=trysnapshot5 Fixed in CVS: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=26392&r=fixedcvs Fixed in release: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=26392&r=alreadyfixed Need backtrace: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=26392&r=needtrace Try newer version: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=26392&r=oldversion Not developer issue: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=26392&r=support Expected behavior: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=26392&r=notwrong Not enough info: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=26392&r=notenoughinfo Submitted twice: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=26392&r=submittedtwice register_globals: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=26392&r=globals PHP 3 support discontinued: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=26392&r=php3 Daylight Savings: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=26392&r=dst IIS Stability: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=26392&r=isapi Install GNU Sed: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=26392&r=gnused Floating point limitations: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=26392&r=float
