ID: 16632 Updated by: philip@php.net Reported By: heyjohnlim@yahoo.com Status: Open Bug Type: Documentation problem PHP Version: 4.2.0 New Comment: and just a few comments: a) $HTTP_USER_AGENT may work in any php version, it's just that as of 4.2.0 register_globals directive defaults to off, so it's not created automagically that way. b) One can always extract() SERVER vars in such cases, something like: if (!ini_get('register_globals')) { extract($HTTP_SERVER_VARS); } c) Yes it's agreed, the docs will and are being updated to not assume the above or register_globals = on. Previous Comments: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2002-04-16 08:56:07] goba@php.net The plan was to integrate the intro into the manual, and extend it in some basic areas.... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2002-04-16 07:17:28] heyjohnlim@yahoo.com Shouldn't we change the default tutorial at the url below so that it works with both PHP 4.0.x and 4.1.x? http://www.php.net/tut.php Bye, John ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- Edit this bug report at http://bugs.php.net/?id=16632&edit=1
