the current situation regarding the browscap.ini
file needed by get_browser() makes the whole
function useless (IMHO)
having a core function in an open source project
rely on data from a closed source file you may
not redistribute, you have to register for and
that is not even up to date doesn't make sense
two alternatives:
- create a open/free browscap database
updateble by everyone and distributable
under a public license
- as the 'big' browsers all use the same
format -> parse/tokenize HTTP_USER_AGENT
for information an browse through browscap
only if USER_AGENT format is unknown
(there is lots of PERL code available for
browser identifikation for a start)
