Thank you for taking the time to write to us, but this is not
a bug. Please double-check the documentation available at
http://www.php.net/manual/ and the instructions on how to

a bug at http://bugs.php.net/how-to-report.php
See the part in the manual on escaping from HTML.

Description:
------------
while commenting out a portion of a regular expression on a single line
of code, I noticed that:
/* "'<script[^>]*?>.*?</script>'si"; */
works fine, but that the following generate a Parse error
// "'<script[^>]*?>.*?</script>'si";
# "'<script[^>]*?>.*?</script>'si";
Surely, comment syntax should be read first before ignoring the
trailing text, no?
