Are you sure you have display_errors = On and error_reporting = E_ALL?

PHP 5.0.4 say : PHP Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING,
expecting ',' or ';' in selects.php on line 6
PHP 5.1.1 say : Errors parsing selects.php
