This bug has been fixed in CVS.
Snapshots of the sources are packaged every three hours; this change
will be in the next snapshot. You can grab the snapshot at

not currently defined by the mysqli extension for the new mysql 5.0
BIT(n) fields and NEWDECIMAL type as returned buy the 5.0 c api
addition of:
REGISTER_LONG_CONSTANT("MYSQLI_TYPE_NEWDECIMAL",
FIELD_TYPE_NEWDECIMAL, CONST_CS | CONST_PERSISTENT);
REGISTER_LONG_CONSTANT("MYSQLI_TYPE_BIT", FIELD_TYPE_BIT, CONST_CS |
CONST_PERSISTENT);
to
ext/mysqli/mysqli.c
fixes the problem
