I think this is fixed in CVS. If that's not the case, reopen this

with magic_quotes_sybase enabled, addslashes will replace single quotes
with double single quotes and NUL's
with \NUL's. stripslashes will change the doubled single quotes back
to single quotes, but the
backslash-escaped NUL's will remain escaped.
