Here I mean; 1. rewrite all ob handlers so it will natively use the stream filter facility. 2. implement a new output buffering facility with the memory stream or whatever capable. This time, output buffering and output handling should be considered to have different semantics. 3. provide a limited support for the old facility in honours of BCs. And hopefully provide an inline directive to instruct filters in how to behave out of the script context. e.g. <?php-filter strip_tags ?> Moriyoshi
