First and foremost, I have no reason to believe that this API
is necessary. You declined to give me a reasonable answer
when asked for such an explanation. Stating "we think we
might need this somewhen in the future, if we don't figure
out that our concept is broken in the meantime" does not
convince me. And second, adding publicly-exposed APIs puts a
burden on the maintainers of an extension. I don't want go
down that road without sensible reasoning from you who
requested this API.
