Are there any other compilers beside GCC > available for FreeBSD? This was causing problems for a customer of ours who was trying to compile PHP with Zeus+MySQL support together. I couldn't reproduce the problem here, PHP builds were just working! I have no idea how their mysql code was built, but I can't imagine they used anything other than gcc to build it (their php build was with gcc 2.95.2) Anyway, their resulting libraries had a '__pure_virtual' undefined symbol, linking against libgcc where this symbol is defined fixed this. I'm afraid I can't tell where the problem was - perhaps with their external libraries that they linked in, or maybe with PHP? So I opted instead to put a note in suggesting anyone finding a similar problem should try the '--enable-libgcc' option. It can't hurt, can it? I wish we could produce binaries for everybody, life would be far simpler :) Unfortunately, the possible combinations of PHP options, external programs and UNIX versions are far too great...
