MySQL supports transactions so you can submit multiple SQL statements
and commit them all at once.
example of statement (from www.mysql.com)
BEGIN;
SELECT @A:=SUM(salary) FROM table1 WHERE type=1;
UPDATE table2 SET summmary=@A WHERE type=1;
COMMIT;
