Finish building site by 10/15/2000
Submit site to search engine: 9/30/2000. But still not open the site for general use yet. Net visitor can only see the first page.
Clients try using the site from 10/15/2000 to 11/15/2000 while I invite more clients. During this time, the site is still not opened for general public.
Open site to general public on 11/15/2000. Start charging clients.
Any "CEOs" could help me out to realize if this is the right plan or not. Is it too short, too long? Totally inexperienced in marketing and management. Really appreciate any ideas offered.
Thanks a lot.
Nam.

I'm a student who step into the field myself building a site of 50,000 lines of fastCGI Perl and MySQL. Truly appreciate your shared experience. If you are building a site that is way better than pricewatch.com (40 million hits a month- was born in 1995), a bit better price.com and C.Net's hardware devision, then what do you expect (or how popular) after the first month you launch the site? What are the best and economic way to promote your sites: search enginees (of course b/c it's free), which magazines (a site to for dealers to put electronics products and visitors come to compare prices.), which newspapers? I need to really limit expense since I'm a student who open a startup. Clients update my site database themselves by uploading their file through browsers. They update images through ftp by themselves too. Is this price list good: $25 for the first 100 items they put on my site so Net visitors can compare price. $10 for each additional 100 items? If I use the client addresses from pricewatch.com and price.com and many other sites doing similar things to invite (email, mail or call -- which way is prefered??) them to join my services, what do I expect (or what is the percentage of response) from their response within the first month? Million thanks to you. Your help will be appreciated like I see a lake of water in the desert.
