Hi.
Have you checked if you have been granted access from your current
location?
in the MySQL db there's a Users and Hosts tables - check them.
If not - do a (or get someone with the right privileges):
grant all on dbname.* to id@host identified by 'password';

Subject: [PHP-DB] mysql_connect question
I am having trouble with one web host I use getting connected to MySQL via
PHP. I have used it successfully on other hosts, and I can connect to mysql
through telnet on this host.
The problem is that I can't seem to supply enough information in the
mysql_connect command to get a connection to work.
Here's what they've given me to connect via telnet (I have changed the IP
address in the example):
/opt/mysql.20/bin/mysql -h 201.221.231.100 -uYOUR-LOGINID -pYOUR-PASSWORD
YOUR-LOGINID
You can see that the name of the database is the same as the username.
I have tried every combination of things possible (that I know of) in
mysql_connect, but I can never get a connection - I think MySQL on this
server wants the database name before it will let me connect.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Chris
